Restrict a room so that a pass can only be ended with the teacher's room code or approval pin

Updated over a week ago

When students try to end a pass in a room where ending passes are restricted, they will be required to enter either the room code or a teacher's approval pin.

Ending a pass using a Room Code

To end a pass, students click on "End Pass," and they will be prompted to enter the room code and an option to end the pass with a teacher pin.

Teachers will then need to generate a room code by clicking on the 3 dots next to their teachers name and then select "Room Code". If the teachers have multiple rooms assigned to them, they need to choose the room where the code is needed.

After you click "Room Code", a one-time code will be generated. Room codes are valid for 30 seconds, after that, a new code will be generated automatically. This ensures that students can't memorize the room code to end their pass on their own.

  • We recommend having the SmartPass page open on your presenter screen, so students can always see this room code.

Students can then enter the room code from the teacher to end the pass.

A few notes on Room Codes:

  • If a pass is a round-trip, it will require the Room Code from the origin room.

  • If a pass is one-way, it will require the Room Code from the destination room.

  • To end a pass in Kiosk Mode, students don't need to enter the room code.

Ending a pass using a teacher's approval pin

Students should click on "End Pass," and they will be prompted to enter the room code and an option to end pass with a teacher pin. They can click on "End Pass with Teacher Pin."

A teacher from the destination room will then have to enter their approval pin to end the pass.

FAQ

Can I make the teacher pin the first option to end the pass, instead of the room code?

No. Currently, the Room Code will always be the default option for students to check-in.

How does this restriction work if I have a Kiosk?

There is no need for a code/teacher pin if the destination room with this restriction has a kiosk. Students can simply end their pass when they arrive at their destination
